A delegation from the Board of Peace (BoP) briefed national security advisers and senior congressional staff on the implementation of President Donald Trump’s Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict during a meeting in Washington this week. The session involved representatives from both Republican and Democratic leadership in the US House of Representatives and Senate.

The BoP delegation was led by senior adviser Josh Gruenbaum, with Gen. Mark Schwartz (ret.), the organization’s security coordinator, participating remotely. According to a senior BoP member, the briefing outlined ongoing efforts to execute Trump’s 20-point diplomatic roadmap aimed at ending the Gaza conflict. The delegation underscored their commitment to working with Congress across party lines to promote peace, enhance security, and support governance and reconstruction initiatives in Gaza.

Among those attending the meeting were national security advisers for Senate Majority Leader John Thune, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, House Speaker Mike Johnson, and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries. However, no further details were released about the discussions or any planned follow-up engagements with Congress.

Separately, Nickolay Mladenov, head of the BoP and the UN’s high representative for Gaza, recently held a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu focused on efforts to establish a ceasefire in Gaza. According to individuals familiar with the matter, the discussion centered on securing a 14-day truce aimed at initiating the demilitarization of Hamas in the territory.

The BoP described the meeting as “constructive and detailed,” stating that both parties share a mutual understanding of the ultimate objective in Gaza. The organization emphasized that the Israel Defense Forces’ withdrawal from Gaza would be contingent upon the full decommissioning of all weapons and military infrastructure within the enclave, including light and heavy arms as well as tunnels.

The developments come amid ongoing efforts to lay the groundwork for durable peace and stability in Gaza following years of conflict, with the BoP positioning itself as a key facilitator between Israeli authorities, international actors, and Palestinian factions.
