Boreham Wood have agreed to a National League record transfer fee, accepting a £1.75 million bid from Swedish club Djurgårdens for winger Abdul Abdulmalik. The 23-year-old is expected to complete the move in Stockholm shortly, surpassing the previous National League record when Fleetwood received £1 million from Leicester City for Jamie Vardy in 2012.

Abdulmalik, a former Millwall academy player and England Under-17 international, played a key role in Boreham Wood’s recent campaign, scoring 17 goals and providing 10 assists as the club reached the National League play-off final. Boreham Wood ultimately fell to Rochdale in the final. Speaking ahead of the transfer, Abdulmalik expressed his readiness for a new challenge in his career.

Elsewhere in the National League, Forest Green Rovers’ manager issued a call for fan support amid a challenging start to the season. After suffering back-to-back losses, Forest Green are preparing to host Altrincham in a full slate of fixtures scheduled for Bank Holiday Monday. The New Lawn head coach acknowledged the team's inconsistent performances so far but highlighted a positive position in the league table, noting they currently sit above Carlisle United. He emphasized the importance of continued backing from supporters, stating that while the team’s play has not matched last season’s standard, belief in the squad remains strong. He also noted that the club’s progress is part of a longer-term four-year plan and suggested that any reassessment of his position would come only if the club found itself in the relegation zone by Christmas.

At the top of the division, Sutton United will aim to maintain their unbeaten record as they host Wealdstone. Meanwhile, Solihull Moors, the only club without a point this season, will face Fylde in another key fixture. The National League continues to demonstrate a competitive and unpredictable campaign as the early weeks unfold.
