Kenya’s Sharon Lokedi secured her third consecutive victory at the Boston Athletic Association (BAA) 10K, finishing the race in 31 minutes, 28 seconds on Sunday. Lokedi, a two-time defending Boston Marathon champion, made a decisive move just after the 8-kilometer mark near the iconic Boston Marathon finish line on Boylston Street, ultimately edging out American Rachael Rudel, who recorded the same time, and Kenyan Veronica Loleo, who finished in 31:33. Lokedi’s win earned her a $12,000 prize.

The women’s race saw a competitive early pace, with Lokedi running alongside a group of six athletes at the 5K point, all clocking in at 16:10. Her late surge proved critical in breaking away from the pack.

On the men’s side, Kenyan runner Patrick Kiprop claimed victory in 27:55. Kiprop trailed leader Andrew Alexander by 10 seconds at the halfway mark but moved into a leading group of five by 8 kilometers, where he launched a strong finishing kick to secure the win. He finished five seconds ahead of South Africa’s Adriaan Wildschutt. The top American male finisher was Ahmed Muhumed, who placed fifth with a time of 28:20.

In the wheelchair divisions, American Tatyana McFadden dominated the women’s race, completing the course in 23:59 for her second BAA 10K title. On the men’s side, two-time Boston Marathon wheelchair winner Daniel Romanchuk set a new event record, finishing in 19:53 to claim his third BAA 10K wheelchair victory.

Sunday’s race covered a 6.2-mile route through Boston and Cambridge. It featured 9,883 finishers from a field of 9,891 starters—marking the largest 10K turnout in the BAA’s 14-year history.
