Aston Villa midfielder Boubacar Kamara is approaching a return to training as he recovers from a knee injury sustained earlier this year. The France international suffered a tear of the posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) during the team’s FA Cup fixture against Tottenham in January, which sidelined him for the remainder of the season. Following the injury, Kamara underwent surgery later that month to repair the damage.

Since then, Kamara has been undergoing rehabilitation and appears on track to regain full fitness ahead of the upcoming pre-season schedule. Villa manager Unai Emery is hopeful that Kamara will be available to participate in preparations, possibly featuring in their opening pre-season matches.

Kamara’s return could come in time for Aston Villa’s first competitive game of the 2026-27 season, a Premier League match against Brighton on August 23. Additionally, the midfielder may be fit to play in Villa’s planned UEFA Super Cup meeting with Paris Saint-Germain on August 12, which would mark an early test of his recovery.

Having missed the second half of last season due to the injury, Kamara’s return would bolster Villa’s midfield options as they seek to build on their recent performances under Emery’s management.
