Bournemouth have indicated they may be willing to sell midfielder Alex Scott during the January transfer window, but only if an offer around £100 million is submitted and the club is in a secure position in the Premier League. The south coast club had previously been unwilling to consider selling the 23-year-old this summer, as they balanced domestic league commitments with European competition and adjusted to the appointment of new head coach Marco Rose.
Scott, who joined Bournemouth from Bristol City in 2023, has attracted interest from several top clubs across the Premier League and Europe, including Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur, and Manchester United. Chelsea notably submitted multiple bids in excess of £60 million during the summer, all of which were rejected. Despite this interest, Bournemouth held firm on their valuation, which is reportedly close to £100 million.
The club has been attempting to negotiate a new contract with Scott, whose current deal runs until 2028, but talks have reportedly stalled since the last offer in April, and no renewed negotiations are understood to be ongoing. Scott has expressed a desire to leave, having declined two contract extensions at the end of the previous season.
Recently, Scott made his debut for the England national team during the latest international break, starting in their 7-0 victory over Croatia. However, he sustained a quad muscle injury during that match and is expected to be sidelined for approximately four to five weeks.
Bournemouth’s willingness to consider a January sale appears linked not only to meeting their financial expectations but also to their league standing, suggesting that the club will weigh their competitive position before authorising any transfer. The potential move could see Scott join one of several interested sides, although the hefty price tag could prove a barrier for some suitors.
