Bournemouth have continued their impressive run of form under manager Marco Rose, recording another clean sheet in a 2-0 victory over Leeds United on Saturday. This latest success extends a remarkable streak during which the team has not conceded a goal in the Premier League since October 10, following a 5-1 defeat at Chelsea. In that period, Bournemouth have also kept clean sheets against Aston Villa, Manchester United, AC Milan, Sunderland, and Sturm Graz.
The club’s defensive solidity and improved performances have propelled them from a slow start, where they failed to win any of their first six league matches, to seventh place in the Premier League standings. Additionally, Bournemouth have secured a place in the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup, signaling significant progress under Rose’s leadership.
Despite the strong run, the team has yet to feature some of its key players at full fitness. Midfielder Alex Scott, valued at £100 million, has been sidelined since early October due to a thigh injury sustained during England international duty. Meanwhile, Junior Kroupi, Bournemouth’s top scorer in the Premier League last season with 13 goals, has had his minutes carefully managed following a pre-season foot injury. Kroupi made an impact in the match against Leeds, coming off the bench to provide a memorable nutmeg and assist for Amine Adli’s late second goal in a brief 22-minute appearance.
Goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic expressed confidence that Bournemouth’s quality will increase further once Scott and Kroupi return fully to the lineup. “I’m not surprised by anything Junior does on the pitch because he shows it in training every day. He is just a special player and a special talent. It is amazing to have him back, and when Alex gets back we can just bring our quality to a higher level,” Petrovic said.
Petrovic also praised the unity within the squad and the coaching staff’s approach to their performances. “We have a good group of people and players. The coaching staff and everyone believes in how we play. We are playing really well going forward and back. Everyone in the team, starting from the attackers, is doing their job offensively and defensively. Now we are getting these results,” he added.
Highlighting the challenges of the Premier League, Petrovic noted, “The manager wants us to get momentum in games and to be very careful with the details because we are in the best league in the world. The Premier League is a high intensity league, and in 15 minutes everything can change. But we are going in a good direction.”
