Boursa Kuwait marked the conclusion of the fifth edition of the CFA Institute Research Challenge in Kuwait by hosting a bell-ringing ceremony with the winning team from Kuwait University. The event took place as part of its involvement in the 10th World Investor Week, held from October 5 to 11, 2026, and the third installment of Boursa Kuwait’s “The Bell” financial literacy initiative, underscoring the bourse’s ongoing commitment to fostering financial education and nurturing future investment professionals.
The winning Kuwait University team comprised Abdulaziz Al-Obaid, Mohammad Al-Kandari, Mohammad Al-Zoubi, Sultan Al-Shehab, and Alaa Hamdan, under the guidance of faculty advisor Dr. Sulaiman Hamad Al-Bader. Throughout the competition, the students conducted a detailed equity research report on Mabanee Company, analyzing its business model, financial statements, and valuation before formulating an investment recommendation. Their presentation was evaluated by a panel of industry experts.
As the official sponsor and first strategic partner of the CFA Institute Research Challenge in Kuwait for the third consecutive year, Boursa Kuwait has collaborated with CFA Society Kuwait to align academic learning with real-world financial analysis, aiming to equip the next generation of investors and analysts with industry-relevant skills. This partnership reflects a broader objective to enhance human capital development and prepare students for careers within Kuwait’s growing financial sector.
Naser Mishari AlSanousi, Senior Director of Marketing and Corporate Communications at Boursa Kuwait, highlighted the importance of investment in knowledge and talent development. He emphasized that capital market growth is intertwined with the ability of market participants to comprehend information and evaluate risks accurately. The bell-ringing ceremony was intended to celebrate student accomplishments and encourage wider engagement with financial research and literacy.
The CFA Institute Research Challenge is a global annual competition engaging more than 7,000 students across 100 countries, offering university teams practical experience in financial analysis, ethical investment practices, and professional communication. Participants progress through local, regional, and international rounds, gaining exposure to standards of accuracy and objectivity critical to investment research.
Dr. Sulaiman Hamad Al-Bader noted that the Challenge provides students with a unique opportunity to bridge university education and industry requirements, reinforcing key analytical, research, and teamwork skills. He commended the continued support from Boursa Kuwait, CFA Institute, and CFA Society Kuwait in delivering this platform for student development.
The event also coincided with the broader framework of World Investor Week, a global campaign led by the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) to promote investor education and protection. The 2026 campaign focuses on themes such as investor resilience, digital deception, and scam alertness, alongside foundational investment concepts tailored for young and new investors.
Boursa Kuwait’s participation includes the global "Ring the Bell for Financial Literacy" initiative managed by the World Federation of Exchanges, which aims to enhance financial awareness among market participants. Complementing this, “The Bell” initiative runs throughout October with partners including CFA Institute, Gulf Capital Investment Company (InvestGB), Kuwait Credit Information Network (CINET), Kuwait University, and the Union of Investment Companies (UIC). The program features interactive workshops, educational sessions, and digital content covering investing fundamentals, credit awareness, and market instruments such as exchange-traded funds and fixed-income securities.
Since its inception in 2024, “The Bell” has engaged over 2,000 beneficiaries and earned substantial online reach through its accompanying podcast, which has amassed over two million views across four seasons. These sustained efforts form part of Boursa Kuwait’s corporate sustainability strategy aimed at enhancing financial literacy and supporting talent development in parallel with the evolving needs of Kuwait’s capital markets.
