Bowen Yang is set to make his Broadway debut this fall in the Tony-winning comedy *Oh, Mary!* Yang, a five-time Emmy nominee and former cast member of *Saturday Night Live* (SNL), will take on the role of Mary Todd Lincoln from September 15 through December 6. The production was written by Cole Escola, who originally created the role of Mary.

Yang's performance will follow those of Meg Stalter, who plays Mary until September 12, and Hannah Solow, who assumes the role on September 13. Yang's upcoming run marks his transition from television to the stage less than a year after announcing his departure from SNL, where he was the show’s first Chinese-American cast member. Yang joined SNL in 2018 as a writer and became a cast member in 2019.

Reflecting on his Broadway debut, Yang described the opportunity as a highlight in his career, expressing gratitude for the chance to participate in what he called a “deranged and profound masterpiece.” He also acknowledged his long-standing friendship with Escola, noting their shared experiences that range from casual outings to challenging theatrical projects.

Yang’s departure from SNL was announced late last year. In a statement last December, he expressed appreciation for his time on the show, thanking colleagues, hosts, and audiences for their support throughout his tenure.

*Oh, Mary!* has seen several actors assume the role of Mary Todd Lincoln in recent years. Earlier this year, Emmy-winning actress Maya Rudolph notably portrayed Mary on Broadway. Other performers who have taken on the role in previous productions include Jane Krakowski, Tituss Burgess, Betty Gilpin, and John Cameron Mitchell.

Yang is also known for co-hosting the podcast *Las Culturistas* and has steadily gained recognition both for his comedy and his trailblazing presence on SNL. His transition to Broadway represents a continued diversification of his career in entertainment.
