An 11-year-old boy who was critically injured in a shooting at a home in Sydney’s northwest died from his wounds on Thursday evening. The child sustained gunshot injuries to his face and neck during the incident, which occurred on Monday at a unit in Norwest.

Emergency services were called to the residence on Fairway Drive around 5 p.m. on Monday following reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, police found the boy with serious injuries. Paramedics from NSW Ambulance provided treatment at the scene before transporting him to Westmead Children’s Hospital, where he remained in critical condition until his death at approximately 8 p.m. on Thursday.

Five other individuals present in the home at the time were not harmed. Authorities arrested three men, all aged 18, in connection with the incident. Two were taken to The Hills police station and subsequently released pending further inquiries. One of the men, identified as Isaac Bechara, was charged with concealing a serious indictable offence. He appeared before Blacktown local court on Tuesday morning, where bail was refused after he made no application for release.

Detective Superintendent Naomi Moore provided an update on Tuesday, noting that police were familiar with the unit where the shooting took place and had previously engaged with its occupants. She added that the incident did not appear to be directly linked to any ongoing conflicts at this stage. However, she indicated that several individuals present at the scene were known to law enforcement and that their connections to organized crime were under investigation.

The police continue to pursue inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the shooting as the investigation remains active.
