A 19-year-old international student in Australia has been charged with driving in a dangerous manner after allegedly hitting a seven-year-old boy outside a Sydney school. The incident took place on Tuesday at a pedestrian crossing near a school on Northcott Road in Lalor Park.
The young boy sustained serious leg injuries and was transported to hospital, where he remains in stable condition. According to court reports, the driver, identified as Harsh Harsh, struck the child due to inattention.
Harsh was arrested at the scene and underwent alcohol and drug testing, both of which returned negative results. Despite police concerns that Harsh might pose a flight risk, he was granted bail and is scheduled to appear in court again on July 20.
The case continues to be under investigation as authorities consider circumstances surrounding the incident.
