Bradford Bulls chief executive Jason Hirst has expressed optimism about the club’s upcoming home fixture being held at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, viewing the event as a significant opportunity to enhance the team’s profile and financial standing. The fixture, scheduled against Leigh, marks a departure from the traditional venue at Odsal and is part of the Bulls’ first season back in the Super League after an 11-year absence during which the club folded and was subsequently reformed.
Hirst stated that Bradford was the driving force behind choosing to host the match in Las Vegas, a decision that other clubs such as Hull FC and St Helens reportedly declined. “Neither of them wanted to be the home team, whereas it was our preference,” he said, underlining the Bulls’ commitment to leveraging the unusual venue as a platform for expanding brand awareness and commercial partnerships.
The move to Allegiant Stadium in Sin City is intended to generate substantial marketing and sponsorship opportunities, according to Hirst. He indicated that commercial interest has surged, with businesses eager to have their branding featured on team shirts and LED advertising boards during the match. “Commercial revenue has gone through the roof,” Hirst reported, adding that the club is confident this approach will enable the match to at least break even financially.
Bradford’s participation in the Las Vegas game represents both a bold strategic step and a test of its ability to capitalize on novel revenue streams in its return to top-flight rugby league. The club’s leadership views the fixture not only as a sporting event but also as a potential model for expanding the international footprint of the Super League.
