Muscat – The Omani Ministry of Health, through its National Centre for Women and Children’s Health, launched a national breast cancer awareness campaign on Sunday. The initiative, branded under the slogan “Rest Assured,” was timed to coincide with the global Pink October breast cancer awareness month and will extend throughout the next year across Oman’s various governorates.

The campaign’s primary objectives are to promote sustainable health awareness, dispel common misconceptions regarding breast cancer, and improve women’s understanding of the symptoms and physical changes that warrant medical evaluation. It also aims to encourage women to proactively seek early detection while emphasizing the crucial support role that families and society can play in women’s health.

Throughout the year-long effort, the ministry plans to implement a range of educational programs, awareness initiatives, and community events in collaboration with multiple sectors. These activities intend to foster lasting health-conscious behaviors and advance a culture of proactive health monitoring under the theme “Rest Assured and Keep an Appointment with Your Health.”

At the launch ceremony, Dr. Faiza bint Abdul Hussain al Fadhil, Director of the Women’s Health Department at the National Centre for Women and Children’s Health, presented an overview of the evolution of Oman’s breast cancer early detection program. The event also featured a session focused on sharing personal recovery experiences and messages of hope from breast cancer survivors.

The campaign represents a key part of Oman’s ongoing public health strategy to reduce breast cancer mortality by enhancing early diagnosis and increasing community awareness. Officials underscored the importance of women taking an active role in their health and the broader societal effort to support these measures.
