Brighton & Hove Albion manager Fabian Hürzeler has indicated that defender Jack Hinshelwood could be sidelined for several weeks following an injury sustained during training. Hinshelwood, 21, missed Thursday’s 4-0 victory over Tromso in the UEFA Conference League after sustaining the issue the previous day.

While Hürzeler acknowledged that there remains a possibility of Hinshelwood returning to the squad for Sunday’s Premier League match against Chelsea, he emphasized the need for caution and patience in the player’s recovery. “With Jack, we have to be more patient. Let’s see how the next weeks are going,” Hürzeler said. “He had a small issue in a training session, nothing big, but for the weekend it might be too close.”

Alongside Hinshelwood, striker Georginio Rutter was also absent from the matchday lineup against Tromso due to injury. Hürzeler did not provide a definite timeline for Rutter’s return but implied that the squad could face further rotation in upcoming fixtures depending on the players’ fitness levels.

Brighton’s successful outing against Tromso kept the club’s momentum going in the Conference League, although the manager’s cautious approach to injury management highlights the challenges of balancing multiple competitions. The club now turns its focus to the Premier League fixture with Chelsea, where fitness updates on key players like Hinshelwood and Rutter are expected to influence team selection.
