The Arizona Cardinals have reached a revised agreement with quarterback Jacoby Brissett, who is poised to start for the team in Week 1 under first-year head coach Mike LaFleur. The 33-year-old Brissett was reportedly dissatisfied with his initial contract, which included only $1.5 million in guaranteed money for the upcoming season. His new deal is valued at approximately $15.5 million.

Brissett stepped in as the Cardinals’ starting quarterback for the final 12 games of last season following a season-ending foot injury to Kyler Murray. While Brissett posted solid individual statistics—completing 3,366 passing yards, 23 touchdowns, and eight interceptions—the team’s record during that span was 1-11. LaFleur confirmed the contract adjustment prior to a practice session and indicated that Brissett would soon begin working closely with the starting offense.

Besides Brissett, the Cardinals have two other primary quarterback options: veteran Gardner Minshew and rookie Carson Beck. The organization appears committed to Brissett as its immediate starter while continuing to evaluate other candidates.

Meanwhile, the Detroit Lions face setbacks heading into training camp as they placed starting safeties Brian Branch and Kerby Joseph on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list. Branch, 24, suffered an Achilles tendon rupture in Week 14 of last season, while Joseph, 25, was limited by a knee injury that kept him sidelined for much of last year’s campaign. The Lions also designated veteran tight end Tyler Conklin, a free-agent signing from March, to the PUP list.

These moves indicate that Detroit will begin training camp without several key defensive players and a recently acquired offensive contributor, potentially impacting early preparations for the season.
