A British gaming enthusiast believes his American police car may feature in the upcoming release of the widely anticipated video game Grand Theft Auto VI. Lukas Holmes, 28, from Warrington, Cheshire, identified a distinctive black and white Ford Crown Victoria in trailers for the game and suspects it is the same vehicle he owns.

Holmes, a longtime fan of the Grand Theft Auto (GTA) series, purchased the police cruiser in 2019 from the Warminster Township Police Department in Pennsylvania. Since then, he has used the car for media purposes through his rental service, Rent-A-Vic. The Ford Crown Victoria, a staple of U.S. law enforcement fleets, has been part of Holmes’s collection since childhood, fulfilling a dream he has harbored since age five.

In 2021, Holmes was invited to bring his vehicle to Millbrook Proving Ground, a test track in Bedfordshire, for what he describes as a project with a major client from Edinburgh. He later learned the client was Rockstar Games, the Scottish developer behind the GTA franchise. According to Holmes, Rockstar spent several hours capturing detailed footage and recording sounds of his car, including engine noises and door slams, aiming for unprecedented realism in the game’s audio.

Holmes expressed cautious enthusiasm about the possibility of his car appearing in GTA VI, which is scheduled for release on November 19. He acknowledged that while Rockstar could choose not to include his recordings, the company’s meticulous attention to detail suggests otherwise. Previous entries in the series, such as the highly successful GTA V released in 2013, did not feature such authentic vehicle sounds. The new title is expected to be one of the year’s biggest game launches, with development costs estimated at £866 million.

A dedicated fan of the franchise since playing GTA IV in 2008, Holmes said he had received numerous offers to purchase the car but declined them all, emphasizing his attachment to the cruiser. The inclusion of his vehicle would mark a notable collaboration between a private car collector and a major video game developer known for its commitment to immersive gameplay experiences.
