Malawian authorities have launched an intensified search for Nusrat Osman, a 47-year-old British woman who was abducted outside her home in Blantyre, the country’s commercial capital, on Friday afternoon. According to the Malawi Police Service (MPS), Osman was taken around 12:30 p.m. by four men driving a grey Nissan Dualis.

Osman, a mother of two and an auditor for Audit Consult Ltd, a local Malawian firm, was reportedly seized in broad daylight. No motive for the kidnapping has been disclosed, and as of yet, there have been no communications from the abductors demanding a ransom or making other demands. Her husband, Nazil Osman, expressed uncertainty about the situation, stating he has no known disputes that might explain the abduction.

The police spokesperson, Gladys Chiwaula, appealed to the public for assistance, announcing a reward of 30 million Malawi kwacha (approximately £12,850) for credible information that could lead to Osman’s rescue and the successful prosecution of those responsible. Authorities have also disseminated text messages nationwide to encourage citizens to provide any relevant tips while cautioning against the spread of unverified information that might hinder the investigation.

The British Foreign Office confirmed it is aware of the incident and is maintaining contact with Malawian officials. Efforts to locate Osman are ongoing as local and international agencies coordinate in response to the case.
