A British tourist was allegedly assaulted by a man riding a bicycle during an early morning run near Bondi Beach in Sydney’s eastern suburbs. The incident occurred around 5:30 a.m. on Thursday while the 33-year-old woman, identified only as Jenna, was running along Bondi Road.
Jenna, who has been visiting Sydney for approximately six weeks, said she was wearing headphones when the music abruptly stopped. She then became aware of a man approaching from behind on a red bicycle. According to her account, the man grabbed her from behind and sexually touched her before fleeing the scene.
In response, Jenna said she attempted to record the suspect and grab his bag to prevent him from escaping. She reported calling out loudly to attract attention, shouting, “Sir, you grabbed me!” while pursuing the cyclist. She credited advice from her brother, a police officer, who had instructed her to make as much noise as possible and gather evidence if confronted.
Local police have since released an image of a person they believe may be connected to the incident and are seeking public assistance. Authorities have asked anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers at 1800 333 000.
The investigation remains ongoing as police work to identify and locate the alleged offender. No further details about the suspect have been released at this stage.
