A 31-year-old British woman died after being stabbed at Rosenheim train station in Bavaria, southern Germany, in the early hours of Sunday. The woman, identified by local authorities and media as Rebecca B, was found with severe knife wounds at around 12:50 a.m. She was given first aid before being taken to hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.

A 27-year-old German man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of homicide. Police identified the suspect as Thomas A, a resident of the Fürstenfeldbruck district near Munich. According to reports, he is believed to be homeless and unlikely to have had a prior connection to the victim. The suspect was brought before a magistrate and remains in custody, although formal charges have not yet been filed.

Investigators are examining the circumstances and possible motives behind the attack. Police have appealed for any witnesses who might have seen an argument or physical altercation at the station around the time of the incident to come forward. Authorities have not disclosed whether the victim and suspect knew each other, and the motive remains unclear.

Rosenheim, a city with a population exceeding 64,000, was hosting its annual autumn festival, Herbstfest, at the time, an event similar in spirit to Munich’s Oktoberfest. Mayor Abuzar Erdogan stated there are no indications that the attack was connected to the festival or posed a broader security threat to the city.

The British Foreign Office confirmed it is providing support to the victim's family and is in contact with local German authorities. Reports indicated that Rebecca B had arrived in Munich on a flight from London Heathrow late on Saturday night and may have been planning to travel onward to Austria.

The investigation is being led by the Rosenheim branch of the Public Prosecutor’s Office in Traunstein, working closely with the local criminal investigation department. Police continue to gather evidence as they seek to clarify the details surrounding the attack.
