Travel from the United Kingdom to international destinations reached a record high during the spring months, according to data from the Civil Aviation Authority. Between April and June, over 81 million passengers traveled through UK airports, marking an increase compared to the same period last year.

The rise in outbound travel occurred despite disruptions caused by holiday and flight cancellations to the Middle East. Popular European destinations, particularly in Spain, saw substantial growth in visitor numbers. The number of passengers flying to Madrid increased by 15 percent, while travel to Barcelona climbed by 11 percent compared to the previous year.

Regional airports also recorded significant rises in traveler throughput. Cardiff Airport experienced a 16 percent increase in passenger numbers, while Newcastle and Inverness airports each saw growth of around 8 percent.

This surge in international travel reflects a continued appetite among British holidaymakers for overseas trips, with European city breaks remaining a favored choice during the spring travel season.
