Britt Assombalonga has signed with Harborough Town as the club prepares for its inaugural season in the National League North. The 33-year-old striker, who previously played in the Championship with Nottingham Forest and Middlesbrough, joins the Leicestershire side following their impressive rise through three promotions in five years.

Harborough Town’s manager, Mitch Austin, described the acquisition of Assombalonga as a clear statement of the club’s ambitions ahead of the new campaign. The forward brings a wealth of experience to the team, having made nearly 500 senior appearances and scored 173 goals over the course of his career.

“It’s been a long time since I played Non-League football,” Assombalonga said. “I enjoyed my spells on loan at Wealdstone and Braintree, and this move makes sense for me now. With my experience, I hope to contribute a lot to the squad.”

Last season, Assombalonga featured for Barnet, and he emphasized his focus on regaining full fitness ahead of the upcoming fixtures. Harborough Town will kick off their National League North campaign on August 8 with an away match against King’s Lynn, followed by a home game versus former English Football League side Morecambe on August 15.

“Every game will be different, but everyone will work their socks off,” Assombalonga added, underscoring his commitment to the team’s challenging new level of competition.
