Triple Eight driver Broc Feeney secured his seventh win of the 2026 Supercars season with a commanding performance at the Gold Coast 500 on Sunday, marking his first victory at his home race and boosting his hopes for the series title. Starting from pole position in the second leg of the event, Feeney maintained a dominant pace to finish more than six seconds ahead of Dick Johnson Racing’s Brodie Kostecki. Chaz Mostert, who won the Saturday race, completed the podium in third.

Feeney’s victory solidified his place in the semi-finals at Sandown and brought him within four points of series leader Matt Payne, who drives for Grove Racing. Payne entered the final 250-kilometer race on Sunday with a comfortable lead and only needed to finish the race to advance; he managed to rise to sixth place from a 12th-place starting position.

Other drivers who secured spots in the next round of the finals include Kostecki, defending champion Mostert, Will Brown, Cam Waters, and Anton De Pasquale. Meanwhile, Ryan Wood, Kai Allen, and Jack Le Brocq were eliminated from the finals following Sunday’s race.

Wood, a young talent from Walkinshaw TWG Racing, finished fourth in the race but narrowly missed qualification for the semi-finals. Late in the race, with just 10 laps remaining, Wood appeared on track to move into the top seven, potentially overcoming a difficult previous season at the Surfers Paradise street circuit. However, after fuel stops for Erebus Racing rookies Jarrod Hughes and Cooper Murray, De Pasquale was promoted up the order to seventh in the standings, edging Wood out of contention.

Walkinshaw TWG Racing’s strategy during the race included asking Mostert to allow Wood past in the closing stages to aid his teammate’s bid for the next round, but Wood relinquished the position on the final lap once it became clear he would not qualify.

Feeney acknowledged the importance of the win after struggling in Saturday’s wet conditions, which saw him finish ninth despite securing back-to-back poles earlier in the weekend. “I think we needed to get a win under our belt here,” Feeney said. He cited a challenging endurance campaign for his team in 2026 but expressed optimism about finding momentum heading into Sandown.

Kostecki, who had been eliminated from the finals after the Gold Coast round last year, expressed relief at advancing to the semi-finals this season. “I felt more sick today going into the race than I did prior to Bathurst,” he said. “I’m really glad to get through this part… eyes forward for Sandown.”

The race also featured early incidents that impacted several finalists, including De Pasquale and Le Brocq, who both suffered punctured tires after contact on the opening lap, forcing early pit stops and relegating them down the order. De Pasquale’s late gains following fuel stops kept his chances alive after a disappointing Bathurst 1000 where he ran out of fuel on the final lap.

The seven drivers who advanced will compete at Sandown, where three more will be eliminated before the championship decider at the Adelaide Grand Final.
