The Denver Broncos secured a 17-14 overtime victory against the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday night at Empower Field at Mile High in Denver, overcoming a late-game rally and a second-half tie. The win improves the Broncos’ record to 4-2, reflecting resilience despite injuries and an inconsistent offense early in the season. The Seahawks, now 3-3, suffered their second loss in five days, equaling their total defeats from last season when they captured their second Super Bowl title.

The game’s decisive moment came in overtime when Broncos defensive back Ja'Quan McMillian intercepted a pass from Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold at Denver’s 43-yard line. The interception, McMillian’s second takeaway on Darnold during the night, set up kicker Wil Lutz’s 53-yard field goal, securing the victory for Denver.

Seattle had rallied late in the fourth quarter after falling behind despite several early struggles offensively. Jason Myers tied the game with a 34-yard field goal as time expired in regulation, capping a drive that began at midfield following a 31-yard punt return by Rashid Shaheed. The Seahawks had benefited from multiple three-and-outs by the Broncos offense, managing to sustain a crucial late drive.

Earlier, the Broncos appeared in control after Kris Abrams-Draine intercepted a Darnold pass at Denver’s 30-yard line with just over a minute remaining. However, Denver was unable to run out the clock, punting after a brief possession. Seattle responded with an 11-play, 67-yard drive led by running back George Holani, who plunged into the end zone from a yard out. Darnold then converted a two-point attempt with a pass to Shaheed, bringing the Seahawks within three points at 14-11 with nearly six minutes left.

Denver relied on quarterback Bo Nix to lead two significant scoring drives in the first half, helping the team build an early advantage. On defense, the Broncos applied considerable pressure, sacking Darnold five times and hitting him 17 more times throughout the game.

Both teams demonstrated strong defensive efforts, with Denver’s ability to generate turnovers proving critical in the overtime period. The Broncos’ victory marks a successful close to a challenging opening stretch, while the Seahawks face ongoing difficulties trying to regain last season’s winning form.
