A 37-year-old man was critically injured after being repeatedly slashed on a subway platform in the Bronx on Monday morning, according to law enforcement officials. The incident occurred at the No. 4 train station located at West 170th Street and Jerome Avenue in the Mount Eden neighborhood.

Authorities reported that the victim was holding an emergency gate open for other riders when a confrontation escalated with an assailant armed with a knife. The man sustained multiple stab wounds across his body and was transported to Lincoln Medical Center, where he was listed in stable condition. As of Monday evening, no arrests had been made in connection with the attack.

This incident followed another violent episode in the Bronx earlier the same week. Lydia Zuniga, 65, a security guard for New York University, was pushed onto subway tracks in an unprovoked attack at the No. 5 train platform near East 180th Street and Morris Park Avenue in the Van Nest area. According to police, the attacker approached Zuniga silently before shoving her onto the tracks. After the assault, the individual reportedly walked into a psychiatric clinic and confessed to the assault.

Both cases are under active investigation by the New York Police Department as subway safety concerns grow across the city’s transit system. Officials have not released information about motivations or whether the incidents are connected. The NYPD continues to urge witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.
