A Brooklyn man was fatally shot late Saturday night following a block party celebrating the New York Knicks’ recent win, police reported. Emanuel Spencer, 44, a father of four, was found with multiple gunshot wounds near his residence on Lincoln Road in the Prospect Lefferts Gardens neighborhood shortly before midnight.

Emergency responders transported Spencer to a nearby hospital in critical condition, where he was pronounced dead, according to the New York Police Department. The circumstances leading to the shooting remain under investigation.

A resident attending the watch party described Spencer as reluctant to join the outdoor gathering. The individual said Spencer had planned to stay upstairs so his daughter could see him, but was nonetheless outside when the incident occurred.

Authorities have not released any information regarding suspects or motives. The shooting comes amid ongoing concerns about gun violence in Brooklyn neighborhoods. Police continue to seek witnesses and information to assist in their investigation.
