Manchester-based sportswear company Castore, known for producing kit for England’s rugby and cricket teams, is considering a potential sale after receiving several unsolicited offers, according to sources familiar with the matter. The firm, founded a decade ago by brothers Phil and Tom Beahon, has engaged JP Morgan to explore interest from prospective buyers, which are reported to include firms from China and other international markets.
Although formal sale proceedings have not commenced, any transaction could involve either a minority or majority stake sale rather than a full takeover. Insiders indicate that the Beahon brothers, who established the business to compete with industry leaders such as Adidas and Nike, would likely continue to lead the company regardless of the deal's outcome.
Castore was last valued at approximately £950 million in 2023. The company has grown significantly since tennis player Sir Andy Murray became a shareholder in 2019. The Beahon brothers’ success with the brand has earned them a combined estimated wealth of £350 million, according to recent reports.
In addition to its official contracts with England’s rugby and cricket teams, Castore supplies kit to prestigious clients including Oracle Red Bull Racing in Formula One and Premier League football club Everton FC. The company’s growing portfolio and high-profile partnerships have positioned it as one of Britain’s notable independent sportswear brands.
