On Sunday, several NFL teams secured notable victories in Week 7 action, including the Cleveland Browns, Buffalo Bills, and Carolina Panthers.
In Cleveland, the Browns edged the Baltimore Ravens 13-10 in a tightly contested game. First-year Browns head coach Todd Monken, who previously served as the Ravens’ offensive coordinator, earned an improbable victory over his former team. The Browns’ defense played a key role in limiting Baltimore’s offense, while quarterback Deshaun Watson delivered crucial plays late in the game. Watson completed a 33-yard pass to Jerry Jeudy on the final series, setting up kicker Andre Szmyt’s 37-yard field goal on the game’s final snap to clinch the win. With the result, Cleveland improved to 4-2 on the season.
In Las Vegas, the Buffalo Bills held off a late rally by the Raiders to win 33-30. Josh Allen passed for 255 yards and two touchdowns, tying the Bills’ franchise record for career touchdown passes with 258, a mark previously held by Hall of Famer Jim Kelly. After the Raiders tied the game at 23-all, James Cook III scored on a 3-yard touchdown run with just under five minutes remaining to put Buffalo ahead. Tyler Bass later added a 38-yard field goal to extend the lead. The Raiders, now 3-3, have dropped three consecutive games, while the Bills improved to 5-1.
The Carolina Panthers defeated the Philadelphia Eagles 25-14 at Lincoln Financial Field. Quarterback Bryce Young threw for 281 yards and two touchdowns, both caught by tight end Tommy Tremble. Running back Chuba Hubbard contributed 120 rushing yards and a touchdown on the ground. Philadelphia, playing without injured quarterback Jalen Hurts and running back Saquon Barkley, struggled against Carolina’s offense and fell to 2-4, while the Panthers moved to 3-2.
In Tampa Bay, the Pittsburgh Steelers rallied from a 13-point deficit in the fourth quarter to defeat the Buccaneers 26-19 in overtime. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers passed for 253 yards and two touchdowns during the comeback. The Steelers scored four times in the final quarter, capped by a 7-yard touchdown pass from Rodgers to Germie Bernard with 3:15 remaining in overtime. The Buccaneers’ rookie quarterback Jalon Daniels mounted a late drive but was stopped by a sack from Jalen Ramsey on fourth down, ending the game. Pittsburgh improved to 4-2, while Tampa Bay fell to 1-5.
The Tennessee Titans secured their first win of the season by beating the Indianapolis Colts 26-20 in Indianapolis. The Titans overcame a 13-0 halftime deficit, fueled by a 58-yard punt return and a blocked punt returned for a touchdown. Joey Slye’s 49-yard field goal with just over two minutes remaining sealed the victory. Tennessee’s defensive and special teams plays were pivotal in ending their six-game losing streak against the Colts. The Titans improved to 1-5.
In Atlanta, the Chicago Bears defeated the Falcons 31-23 behind the strong performances of Caleb Williams, who completed his first 12 passes after returning from a hamstring injury, and running back D’Andre Swift, who scored twice on the ground. Bears cornerback Kyler Gordon, recently activated from the physically unable to perform list, recorded three sacks and forced two fumbles. Chicago improved its record to 4-2, while Atlanta fell to 2-4.
The Houston Texans earned a last-second 34-31 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars at Wembley Stadium in London. C.J. Stroud threw for three touchdowns, and kicker Ka’imi Fairbairn’s 49-yard field goal as time expired secured the victory. The Jaguars had tied the game on a 60-yard field goal from Cam Little following an interception in the end zone by Travis Hunter late in the fourth quarter.
Finally, in Kansas City, the Chiefs remained one of three undefeated teams this season with a 22-6 win over the Los Angeles Chargers. Kenneth Walker III led the ground attack with 128 yards and two touchdowns, while Patrick Mahomes passed for 272 yards. The Chargers, hampered by injuries, could not generate sustained offense against Kansas City’s defense.
These results leave the NFL landscape evolving with several teams jockeying for position as the season progresses into the midpoint.
