New York Knicks captain Jalen Brunson has been fully cleared to participate in the team’s training camp, the player confirmed during a live podcast event on Thursday. Brunson, who underwent surgery on his left shooting wrist in early July to repair a tendon injury, said he has been given the green light to resume five-on-five basketball activities just in time for the Knicks’ training camp, which begins Tuesday in Tarrytown, New York.

Brunson played through the wrist injury during the playoffs, culminating in his being named NBA Finals MVP as the Knicks secured the championship. After spending much of the offseason in a cast, he expressed relief at his recovery during the event held at Icahn Stadium on Randall’s Island, where he and teammate Josh Hart hosted their third annual Roommates Show Block Party.

The event, which featured guests including Jose Alvarado, Landry Shamet, and filmmaker Spike Lee, provided an opportunity to reflect on the Knicks’ championship season. Brunson joked about the timing of the title-clinching Game 5 victory, which took place in San Antonio rather than New York. “I’m really happy we didn’t clinch it here,” he said, noting the difficulties he would have had returning home that night.

Alvarado and Shamet also spoke for the first time about re-signing with the Knicks this offseason. Alvarado agreed to a three-year, $14 million deal after joining New York via trade from the New Orleans Pelicans in February, while Shamet signed a four-year, $24 million contract. Both players were instrumental during the playoffs, with Alvarado describing the Knicks as having “changed my life.”

The Roommates Show podcast, co-hosted by Brunson and Hart, has gained considerable traction following the Knicks’ title run, prompting the block party to move to a larger venue this year. After two years at Rumsey Playfield in Central Park—including a rain-dampened event last year—the gathering was held at Icahn Stadium, accommodating a much larger audience. Ticket prices reflected the increased demand, with standing-room-only passes priced at $135 and VIP tickets reaching $600.

In addition to podcasting and basketball, Brunson is preparing to host “Saturday Night Live” this weekend. During the block party, Brunson and Hart engaged in lighthearted banter about their hairlines and salaries, with Brunson noting an advantage in earnings over his co-host.

The Knicks’ training camp will mark a significant step as Brunson returns fully healthy and ready to defend the team’s newly acquired NBA title.
