Qatar’s Ministry of Municipality reported strong activity in the country’s construction sector during the third quarter of 2026, with significant numbers of licenses, permits, certificates, and plan approvals issued, according to data released on the Ministry’s official X account.

During the period, the Building Permit Complex issued a total of 1,947 licenses and certificates. Of these, building completion certificates were the most common, with 957 issued, indicating that a substantial number of construction projects reached completion and received official clearance for occupancy and use. Property completion certificates accounted for 407, while maintenance permits totaled 376. Demolition permits numbered 207.

Building permits, which encompass new construction, additions or modifications, and renewals, totaled 2,226. Small-scale projects comprised the majority of these permits, with 1,631 issued, suggesting continued activity in residential and minor construction. Other projects, excluding the smaller and larger categories, received 501 permits. Major projects, typically involving large-scale commercial, infrastructure, or mixed-use developments, accounted for 94 permits.

The technical affairs department of the Building Permit Complex also reported a considerable workload demonstrated by the volume of approved plans during the quarter. Approved plans for building completion certificates reached 31,067, by far the highest figure among all categories. Plans associated with maintenance permits totaled 3,722, demolition permits had 1,745 approved plans, and property completion certificates recorded 204.

These figures reflect an integrated permit management system that oversees the full construction lifecycle, ranging from initial plan approval and permit issuance through to maintenance, renovation, demolition, and final completion certification. The data underline sustained construction activity across various project types and stages throughout Qatar in the third quarter of 2026.
