Tonbridge Angels secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Hemel Hempstead in a tightly contested match. The decisive moment came in the 23rd minute when Bunmi Babajide scored the game’s only goal, capitalizing on a well-delivered cross from teammate Ricky Korboa.

Early chances were limited, with Tonbridge’s Korboa forcing a save from Hemel’s goalkeeper Michael Johnson in the opening minutes. Hemel responded when George Williams took a shot from the edge of the box, but his effort sailed over the crossbar.

The match settled into a midfield battle before Babajide’s breakthrough close to the half-hour mark. Shortly afterward, Hemel was awarded a penalty after Josh Green was fouled in the area. However, Lee Angol’s spot-kick was comfortably saved by Tonbridge keeper Nathan Harness, keeping the visitors in the lead.

In the closing stages of the first half, Tonbridge pressed for a second goal but were thwarted by Johnson, who saved attempts from Jaden Brown and Babajide. Early in the second half, Williams again tested Harness with a powerful shot, while Jephte Tanga and Babajide also threatened Hemel’s goal.

Hemel continued to push for an equalizer with attacks from Harry Webster and Angol, both managed to test the Tonbridge defense. Meanwhile, Tonbridge’s best chance to extend their lead came from Frankie Baker, who missed a close-range opportunity by sending his shot over the bar.

Despite pressure from Hemel in the final stages, Tonbridge held firm to secure the win, moving them ahead in the standings while Hemel were left to rue missed chances, including the crucial penalty save.
