Burgan Bank took part in the IDC Kuwait CIO Summit 2026, highlighting its ongoing commitment to advancing Kuwait’s technology sector and fostering discussions on the future of digital transformation. The summit, held under the theme “The Rise of Agentic Systems,” gathered chief information officers, technology executives, and decision-makers to explore the increasing impact of artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing, and data infrastructure in creating more autonomous and resilient organizations.

Barrak Al-Mattar, Burgan Bank’s General Manager of Information Technology, represented the bank in the “For The CIO – By The CIO” track, participating in a panel titled “Agentic AI in Action: Industry Use Cases and Early Wins.” The session focused on practical applications of agentic AI, with panelists sharing insights on early successes, implementation challenges, and strategic priorities as organizations move from AI experimentation toward broader enterprise integration.

During the event, Al-Mattar was also recognized as one of the recipients of the IDC CIO Excellence Awards 2026. The awards honor 30 technology leaders who are driving IT innovation and leadership, following a stringent evaluation by an independent panel of IDC analysts.

Al-Mattar emphasized the importance of balancing innovation with governance and cybersecurity. He noted that in the banking sector, advancing technology must be accompanied by resilient security frameworks and enhanced customer awareness in an increasingly complex digital environment. “AI tools represent an important evolution in how technology can support organizations, but its value will ultimately depend on how responsibly and effectively it is deployed,” Al-Mattar said. He added that innovation in banking must be integrated with security, governance, and trust to protect customers and enable them to navigate digital financial services safely.

Burgan Bank’s participation aligns with its broader strategy to invest in cybersecurity and advanced technologies within established governance and regulatory frameworks. The bank continues to strengthen its cybersecurity infrastructure in compliance with international standards and directives from the Central Bank of Kuwait. It also remains active in promoting customer education and awareness, notably through support for the “Let’s Be Aware” (Diraya) campaign initiated by the Central Bank of Kuwait, the Kuwait Banking Association, and local banks. The campaign aims to encourage safer banking practices and raise awareness of emerging financial and digital risks.

Through its involvement in the summit and ongoing investments, Burgan Bank seeks to enhance the customer banking experience while maintaining a focus on resilience, responsible governance, and trust. The bank’s approach underscores the importance of leveraging technology to build a secure, modern, and future-ready financial ecosystem.
