Butlin’s Bognor Regis holiday resort in West Sussex has unveiled what it claims to be the world’s largest claw machine, surpassing previous records with an installation comparable in size to a small house. The arcade game measures 6.8 meters in length, 3.9 meters in height, and occupies a volume of 66.31 cubic meters, according to the resort.
The oversized claw machine was officially recognised by Guinness World Records following its recent installation inside the resort’s Skyline Pavilion. Visitors to the park can participate by paying £1 per play, with the opportunity to win a variety of prizes including giant stuffed toys of popular characters such as Homer Simpson and Bully, the Bullseye mascot. Other prizes include resort vouchers enclosed in envelopes attached to lanyards.
The game maintains the familiar control scheme of a traditional claw machine, operated by one lever and one button, but on a dramatically larger scale. The claw itself is notably large; an observer reported that it could fit around an adult’s head.
Since opening this week, the attraction has engaged guests of all ages. Reports cited a resort staff member successfully winning a large Simba plush from The Lion King, while a young child was able to capture an oversized stuffed dog with parental assistance shortly after the machine’s debut.
The installation adds a distinctive entertainment feature to Butlin’s Bognor Regis, aiming to draw visitors interested in novel experiences alongside the resort’s existing amenities.
