Qatar’s Cabinet expressed strong approval of the outcomes from the recent Lake Lucerne Summit and the initial round of high-level talks between the United States and Iran, held under a Memorandum of Understanding signed in Islamabad. The discussions marked what officials described as the opening of a new phase in diplomatic engagements between Washington and Tehran.

The Cabinet meeting took place at the Amiri Diwan and was chaired by HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defence Affairs Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman bin Hassan al-Thani. Following the session, HE the Minister of Justice and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Ibrahim bin Ali al-Mohannadi conveyed the Cabinet’s commendation of the talks conducted at the Burgenstock Resort in Switzerland.

These meetings involved representatives from both Iran and the United States, with Qatar and Pakistan serving as mediators in the process. The Cabinet highlighted the success of this initial round, emphasizing the constructive atmosphere throughout the negotiations and the tangible progress achieved.

Officials noted that the breakthroughs reached during the discussions have laid a foundation for rebuilding mutual trust between the parties. Furthermore, the Cabinet underscored the shared commitment to peace and the importance of advancing toward a final agreement consistent with the established framework.
