Qatar’s Cabinet expressed strong support for the outcomes of the recent Lake Lucerne Summit and the initial round of high-level talks between the United States and Iran, which took place under the Memorandum of Understanding signed in Islamabad. The government described the developments as marking the beginning of a new phase in negotiations between Washington and Tehran.

The Cabinet convened at the Amiri Diwan under the chairmanship of Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman bin Hassan al-Thani, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defence Affairs, where members reviewed the progress made during the discussions held at the Burgenstock Resort in Switzerland. The talks involved representatives from the United States and Iran, with Qatar and Pakistan serving as mediators.

Following the meeting, Ibrahim bin Ali al-Mohannadi, Minister of Justice and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs, stated that the Cabinet commended the results achieved during this initial round. Officials highlighted the constructive atmosphere that prevailed throughout the discussions, emphasizing that the achievements made would contribute to building mutual trust between the two parties.

The Cabinet noted that the progress aligns with the shared commitment to peace and the objective of finalizing an agreement consistent with the framework established under the Memorandum of Understanding. The Qatari government underscored the importance of these talks as a pivotal step toward resolving longstanding tensions and enhancing regional stability.

The involvement of Qatar and Pakistan as mediators reflects ongoing diplomatic efforts to facilitate dialogue and reconciliation between the United States and Iran. The Lake Lucerne Summit and subsequent negotiations signal a renewed willingness on both sides to engage substantively on critical issues, although further rounds of discussion are expected to be necessary to reach a comprehensive agreement.
