Qatar’s Cabinet expressed satisfaction with recent diplomatic discussions, highlighting progress achieved through the country’s engagement with Pakistan. Officials praised the cooperative partnership and expressed optimism that ongoing negotiations will continue in a constructive spirit aimed at reaching a comprehensive agreement. The goal of the talks is to bring a peaceful resolution to existing conflicts, enhance regional and international security, and protect the interests of affected populations.
In a review of Qatar’s economic performance, the Cabinet commended the nation’s rankings in the 2026 International Institute for Management Development (IMD) World Competitiveness Yearbook. Qatar secured the top position regionally and placed among the top five globally for economic resilience. It also ranked first both regionally and worldwide on the balance of trade indicator, while maintaining the world’s lowest unemployment rate, underscoring the country’s strong economic and social indicators.
The Cabinet issued condolences following an accidental incident at a facility in Ras Laffan Industrial City that occurred on Sunday evening due to a technical malfunction. The statement extended sympathy to the families of the victims and wished a swift recovery for those injured. It also lauded the prompt and effective response by relevant authorities managing the situation.
Additionally, the Cabinet acknowledged the Shura Council’s approval of a draft food safety law prepared by the Ministry of Public Health. The legislation is designed to safeguard consumer health by ensuring the safety and suitability of food throughout all stages of the supply chain, while enforcing compliance with regulatory standards to mitigate food-related risks.
Concluding the session, Cabinet members reviewed the 13th Annual Report on the National Committee for International Humanitarian Law's work for 2025. They also examined a report on Qatar’s participation in the 64th Session of the United Nations Commission for Social Development, held in New York in February 2026, and took appropriate decisions based on the findings.
