Kuwait’s Cabinet convened on Tuesday under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah to review the country’s financial status and ongoing economic reforms. During the meeting, State Minister for Economic Affairs and Investment Abdulaziz Al-Marzouq and Finance Minister Dr. Yaqoub Al-Rifai emphasized Kuwait’s robust financial resilience amid regional and global challenges.
The Cabinet examined a detailed presentation on the state’s financial position as of March 31, 2026, which outlined Kuwait’s assets and liabilities in accordance with Article 150 of the Constitution. The session included contributions from key officials such as Aseel Al-Munifi, Undersecretary of the Finance Ministry, and Sheikh Saoud Salem Al-Sabah, Managing Director of the Kuwait Investment Authority.
Officials highlighted the strength of financial reserves, including the General Reserve and the Reserve Fund for Future Generations. These funds underpin the country’s ability to withstand economic pressures, reinforcing confidence in Kuwait’s fiscal stability.
Additionally, the Cabinet reviewed the first-quarter report on the 2026-2027 budgets across ministries and government agencies. The report projected significant growth in non-oil revenues for the fiscal year, a development attributed to a series of reforms currently underway in the financial sector. These reforms aim to diversify income sources and reduce reliance on hydrocarbons.
Members of the Cabinet noted that the ongoing reforms are designed to foster a more sustainable and competitive economy over the medium and long term. They emphasized that positive financial indicators contribute to Kuwait’s attractiveness for foreign investment and support governmental objectives to enhance economic openness.
The leadership reaffirmed the state's commitment to advancing Kuwait as a regional financial and commercial hub, while also creating sustainable employment opportunities for future generations. The Cabinet’s discussions reflected a strategic focus on maintaining economic stability and pursuing growth amid a complex international environment.
