The Prahran residence of Nino Pangrazio, the former co-owner of Melbourne’s renowned Pellegrini’s Espresso Bar, is set to go to auction for the first time in 55 years. The three-bedroom home, located at 11a Jessamine Avenue, dates back to the 1920s and was purchased by Pangrazio in 1971.
Pangrazio, who is now 88, was a prominent figure in Melbourne’s café scene, co-owning Pellegrini’s Espresso Bar on Bourke Street alongside the late restaurateur Sisto Malaspina. The café operated under their stewardship for 47 years before Pangrazio retired in 2019.
The house, which sits within a heritage zoning area, represents a rare opportunity for buyers to acquire a piece of Melbourne’s cultural history. It will be auctioned by Marshall White, with a price guide ranging between $3.6 million and $3.8 million.
The auction is scheduled for Saturday, coinciding with one of Victoria’s busiest weekends on the auction calendar. Notably, this event is only the second weekend following the introduction of the state’s compulsory reserve price disclosure regulations, which require sellers to publicly announce the minimum price they are willing to accept.
