The two-metre bronze statue of late Cantopop icon Anita Mui Yim-fong was unveiled to the public once again yesterday after undergoing a month-long restoration. The sculpture, located on the Avenue of Stars in Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong, had suffered significant corrosion due to prolonged exposure to the harbourfront environment.

The statue, crafted by Professor Cao Chong'en, required extensive conservation efforts to address the damage. Restoration work included a series of 10 chemical treatments aimed at removing corrosion and preserving the statue's appearance and structural integrity. Following the completion of the restoration, the artwork was restored to public display for fans and visitors.

Anita Mui, widely regarded as one of the most influential figures in Cantopop, passed away in December 2003 at the age of 40 due to respiratory complications related to cervical cancer. The statue serves as a tribute to her enduring legacy in Hong Kong’s music and entertainment industry.
