Vancouver mounted a strong comeback to defeat the Calgary Flames 4-1 on Saturday night, rallying with four unanswered goals in the third period at Rogers Arena. Defenseman Elias Pettersson netted the game-winning goal, helping the Canucks secure their first win after two losses to open the season.

The Flames opened the scoring on a goal by Matt Coronato but were unable to build on their early advantage as the Canucks steadily gained momentum. Liam Ohgren contributed significantly with a goal and an assist, while Drew O’Connor and Aatu Raty also found the back of the net in the decisive third period.

Tom Willander and Linus Karlsson each recorded two assists for Vancouver, showcasing strong playmaking throughout the contest. In net, Leevi Merilainen made 23 saves on 24 shots, providing a solid backbone for the team’s late surge.

Calgary goalkeeper Devin Cooley faced 27 shots overall, stopping 22, but could not hold off the Canucks’ onslaught in the final frame. The Flames extended their losing streak to two games to start their campaign.

Vancouver struggled in the opening period again, being outshot 11-5, continuing a troubling trend from their first two games, where they were collectively outshot 38-12 and managed only one first-period goal. However, the fourth-quarter rally demonstrated the Canucks’ resilience and ability to turn the game in their favor under pressure.
