Cape Verde goalkeeper Vozinha is seeking a new professional club following his standout performances at the 2026 World Cup, with the 40-year-old expressing openness to opportunities, including a potential move to Brazil.

Vozinha, who recently concluded his contract with Portuguese second-division side Desportivo Chaves, gained widespread recognition after helping Cape Verde secure impressive results in their World Cup group. The team, competing in the tournament for the first time, held European champion Spain to a goalless draw in their opening match on June 15 and followed that with a 2-2 result against Uruguay.

In an interview with Brazilian journalist and influencer Daniel Braune, Vozinha confirmed he is currently without a club and eager to continue his playing career. He highlighted Brazil as a country where he has gained significant fan support, partly thanks to Casimiro Miguel, another Brazilian influencer known as Cazé, who promoted Vozinha on social media. This exposure helped boost his Instagram following from approximately 50,000 to nearly 16 million.

“It would be good,” Vozinha said in the interview regarding the prospect of playing in Brazil. “We’ll see.” He also expressed a desire to visit the country to thank fans for their support and noted that many of his teammates share similar sentiments.

Vozinha’s connections to Brazil are not new; he previously spent time there when his former Angolan club, Progresso do Sambizanga, conducted preseason training in the country. The goalkeeper also cited some of his childhood idols, including Belgian Michel Preud’homme, Dutchman Edwin van der Sar, and Italy’s Gianluigi Buffon.

Beyond his personal ambitions, Vozinha emphasized the collective goal of Cape Verde’s team: advancing beyond the group stage. A victory against Saudi Arabia in their upcoming match in Houston on Friday would secure a place in the round of 32, a major milestone for the island nation of roughly half a million people off Africa’s west coast.

“My dream, and the dream of all Cape Verdeans, is to reach the next round,” he said. “It’s huge just to be in the World Cup, and to advance when no one thought that we could even get a point would be extraordinary.”
