The University of Kelaniya officially opened its Cardiovascular Exercise Centre in a ceremony led by Senior Professor (Mrs.) Nilanthi de Silva, the university’s Vice Chancellor. The new facility, which was built with an investment of approximately Rs. 8 million, aims to enhance the physical fitness resources available to students on campus.

The inauguration event was attended by key university officials, including Professor (Dr.) Anuradhini Kasthuriratne, Chairperson of the University Sports Advisory Board; Saman Kumara Gunawardena, Director of Physical Education; Senior Professor Sudath Kalingamudali; Professor Jeevantha Premaratne, Dean of the Faculty of Science; and Professor Chaminda Abeysinghe, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences.

The new centre is expected to promote cardiovascular health and support a range of exercise programs for students, contributing to overall well-being and physical education initiatives at the university. The facility’s establishment reflects the institution’s commitment to providing improved infrastructure to facilitate both academic and extracurricular activities.
