Paul Flack, the older brother of the late television presenter Caroline Flack, has died at the age of 55. He was found unresponsive in his Norwich home on June 21 and was later pronounced dead at the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital.

An inquest into Paul Flack’s death was opened on Monday at Norfolk coroner’s court, where Area Coroner Yvonne Blake indicated that further investigations are needed before the circumstances surrounding his passing can be fully determined. The hearing was adjourned and is scheduled to resume in October.

Paul Flack was known for his work as an artist and graphic designer. He was eight years older than Caroline Flack, who died by suicide in February 2020. Her death came amid widespread public scrutiny following an assault charge related to an argument with her then-boyfriend, Lewis Burton, in December 2019. The case was set to proceed to trial, leading Flack to step down from her role as presenter of the television show Love Island.

In the wake of Caroline Flack’s death, her family criticized the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) for pursuing what they described as a “show trial.” Burton publicly stated that Caroline Flack did not strike him with a lamp during the dispute, contrary to the initial allegation. Meanwhile, a CPS memorandum obtained by the presenter’s mother revealed that although Flack admitted to the assault, the author believed prosecuting the case was not in the public interest.

Paul Flack’s passing marks another tragic loss for the family, which has been in the national spotlight due to Caroline Flack’s high-profile career and the circumstances surrounding her death. The upcoming inquest aims to provide further clarity on the cause and context of his death.
