British boxer Caroline Dubois outlined a clear plan to become the undisputed world lightweight champion by 2027 following her latest victory at the end of August. The 25-year-old, who successfully defended her WBC and WBO lightweight titles with a points win over Amelia Moore in Birmingham, is targeting a unification of all major belts in the division over the next two years.

Dubois secured her 14th professional win on an all-female boxing card in the Midlands. Shortly after the bout, she engaged in a heated exchange with American rival Alycia Baumgardner, raising anticipation for a future showdown. Baumgardner is scheduled to contest the IBF lightweight title against Elif Nur Turhan on November 9, and Dubois expects their meeting to be inevitable in 2024.

The London-based fighter revealed her immediate goal is to claim the WBA lightweight championship from Stephanie Han before pursuing a full unification. She stated that capturing the remaining belt in the division would set the stage for a high-profile clash with the winner of the Baumgardner-Turhan bout, which she believes would be the biggest fight in women’s boxing.

“This makes sense. If you want it to be the biggest fight, you need all the marbles,” Dubois said. “That would be for [Baumgardner] to become a two-weight world champion and for me to become the youngest undisputed world champion.”

Dubois’ confrontation with Baumgardner following their respective fights drew significant media attention, with clips of their verbal exchange gaining traction online. Dubois described the interaction as spontaneous rather than premeditated, emphasizing the competitive spirit between the two fighters.

“I was just out of the fight, looking straight ahead, and I saw her talking,” she recalled. “I imagined she was saying something, so I walked over. You know me, I’m not running from anyone. We had that back and forth — it was off the cuff.”

Dubois believes the rivalry will generate excitement and bring out the best in both athletes. She expressed confidence in her own ability and eagerness for the eventual bout. “All I hope is she wins her fight, I get to step into the ring, punch her in the face and beat her because it will be good for me,” Dubois added.
