Durham fast bowler Brydon Carse was handcuffed by police outside a nightclub in Derby on Saturday night amid celebrations following Durham’s County Championship victory over Derbyshire. The incident marks the latest involvement of an England cricketer in a late-night police matter.

Footage circulating on social media shows Carse being restrained by several officers as he talks with team-mate Matthew Potts. Despite this, sources indicate Carse was not formally arrested and was later released without any charges. The circumstances leading to his detention remain unclear.

Carse has been named in England’s squad for the second Test against Pakistan at Lord’s, scheduled to begin Thursday. He was England’s leading wicket-taker during the recent Ashes series, though he was omitted from the team for last week’s three-day match against Pakistan at Headingley and instead returned to play for Durham at Derby.

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) issued a statement saying they are aware of the reported incident and are conducting an investigation, promising to provide further updates when available. Durham County Cricket Club declined to comment, referring inquiries to the ECB, while Derbyshire Police have yet to offer an official statement on the matter.
