Catherine Zeta-Jones is embracing her Welsh roots in her latest project, the crime comedy series *Kill Jackie*, marking the first time in her career that she portrays a character who shares her native accent. The 57-year-old Swansea-born actress takes on the role of Jackie Price, a former cocaine dealer turned art dealer whose Welsh background aligns with Zeta-Jones’s own.
For much of her career, Zeta-Jones has played roles requiring various accents, including American in *The Terminal* (2004) and Scottish in *Death Defying Acts* (2007). Reflecting on this, she said that realizing Jackie’s Welsh identity made her reassess her approach to acting and gave her a new appreciation for the actors who perform with different accents routinely.
The series follows Jackie Price’s unexpected upheaval after two decades of living under the radar. She has forged a comfortable life by selling art through tax loopholes, but this stability is threatened when a group of elite assassins, known as The Seven Demons, is contracted to eliminate her.
Zeta-Jones described her character as outspoken and impulsive, traits that resonated with her despite her own more reserved and serious personality. "She speaks before she thinks, and she says what she thinks," the actress noted, highlighting the straightforwardness that drew her to the role.
*Kill Jackie* is an eight-episode series featuring a supporting cast that includes Daniel Ings, Julian Rhind-Tutt, Sidse Babett Knudsen, and Christine Adams. The show explores themes of crime and survival, blending dark humor with suspense as Jackie navigates the dangers posed by her pursuers while maintaining her distinctive, unfiltered demeanor.
