Catherine Zeta-Jones is set to star in the upcoming Prime Video thriller "Kill Jackie," portraying a complex character far removed from the roles that initially brought her fame. The 56-year-old Welsh actress will play Jackie Price, a retired drug smuggler who attempts to leave her perilous past behind, only to find herself targeted by a group of dangerous assassins known as The Seven Demons.
The series, scheduled to air this autumn, is an adaptation of Nick Harkaway’s novel "The Price You Pay." It follows Jackie, now working as a glamorous art dealer, whose former life resurfaces when hired hitmen come after her. The storyline centers on her struggle to survive and outwit the lethal squad pursuing her.
Joining Zeta-Jones in the cast are Daniel Ings, known for his work on "The Gentlemen" and "The Crown"; Sebastian Armesto, who appeared in "Gangs of London," as well as Oscar Jaenada, Raff Law, and newcomer Darci Shaw. Shaw will portray Gwen, while Armesto assumes the role of The Cuban, one of the assassins.
Zeta-Jones, an Oscar, Bafta, and Tony Award winner, expressed enthusiasm about the role, highlighting the character’s contrast to the lighter parts she has played in the past, such as in the 1990s ITV series "The Darling Buds of May," which helped launch her career. This new role showcases a grittier and more action-oriented side of the actress, as her character must directly confront the deadly threats closing in on her.
The production marks a departure from Zeta-Jones’s previous work, emphasizing intense thriller elements and complex character development. Details about the full series and its release date are set to be announced in the coming months.
