Woodville South secured a narrow two-wicket victory over Grange in the Adelaide Turf Cricket Premier Grade match held Saturday at Ledger Reserve. Batting second, the Cats reached 8-172, with Akash John hitting the winning runs off Oliver McDowall on the first ball of the 37th over. Rajeev George led the innings with a top score of 29. Grange had been bowled out for 145 in the 36th over, with Lachie Russell contributing 39 runs and Alex Garlick taking 3 wickets for 26 runs.
In another match, Reynella defeated last year’s grand finalist Port District, dismissing them for just 110 runs. Reynella surpassed that total with five wickets down, finishing on 5-162. Robert Colville anchored the innings with an unbeaten 46 off 94 balls, supported by Gihan Nimsara and wicketkeeper Josh Niederer who both scored 32.
Defending champions Goodwood began their title defense with a loss to Brighton, falling short at 106 runs. Brighton’s left-arm fast bowler Sebastian Mallia made early inroads with two wickets in his second over, while Max Matthews took 3 wickets for 16 runs. Opener Jake Hartigan’s 43 runs guided Brighton to the win.
Pooraka posted an imposing 4-245 against Old Scotch, thanks to a solid 98-run opening partnership between Ben Staniford, who scored just over fifty, and Lucas Hart. Mitchell Thomas, the 2024-25 ATCA cricketer of the year, remained unbeaten on 65. Old Scotch fought back with Charlie Morbey scoring 62 and captain Hamish Winter-Irving playing a rapid 74 off 44 balls—featuring two fours and seven sixes—but their total of 208 fell 37 runs short. Nicholas Hart took 3 wickets for 39 runs, and Thomas claimed four wickets for 39 runs to complete a standout all-round performance.
