Parkes, New South Wales, is set to host one of the largest celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of Elvis Presley's passing, as the annual Parkes Elvis Festival returns from January 6 to 10, 2027. Expected to draw at least 30,000 visitors, the Central West town's event is among the biggest commemorations outside of Memphis, Tennessee, the late singer's hometown.
This year’s festival will carry the theme “Elvis on Tour” and feature a program of approximately 200 events. Highlights include two concerts by Dean Z, a prominent US-based Elvis tribute artist, one of which will be performed alongside a symphony orchestra. Another notable appearance is planned by Donna Presley, Elvis’s first cousin, who will participate in special festival activities.
Longstanding fixtures such as the street parade, gospel service, Miss Priscilla Dinner, and a vow-renewal ceremony will also take place, maintaining the festival’s reputation for its diverse and immersive Elvis-themed experiences.
Travel options for attendees are extensive. NSW TrainLink will operate a special service, the Elvis Express, providing direct rail access from Sydney to Parkes. Air travelers can use Rex Airlines’ “Hound Dog Express” flights, while Vintage Rail Journeys offers a deluxe five-day Elvis Festival Train package departing Sydney on January 7. This all-inclusive trip features travel in twin cabins and is priced from $4,990 per person.
With its combination of music, cultural events, and themed experiences, the Parkes Elvis Festival continues to be a major attraction for fans commemorating the legacy of Elvis Presley on this significant milestone. Additional information about the festival and travel packages is available through the official Parkes Elvis Festival and Vintage Rail Journeys websites.
