A new season of the reality show “Race Across the World” features a group of celebrities embarking on a challenging journey from Borneo to Melbourne, Australia, with only £840 in funds. The participants, paired up, face the challenge of navigating unfamiliar terrain without modern conveniences such as phones, relying instead on maps, compasses, and assistance from locals.

Among the contestants are Princess Andre, daughter of Katie Price and Peter Andre, and her brother Junior. Princess Andre shows signs of confusion about her surroundings, jokingly mixing up Malaysia with “malicious,” and admitting to limited travel experience. Junior, in contrast, appears more capable, actively engaging locals for guidance throughout the trip.

At the other end of the spectrum are singer Sam Smith and his friend Kaz, who are careful to conserve their budget by opting to sleep on the floor of a garage rather than staying in hotels. They are joined by singer Ella Eyre and her friend Nana, as well as former football pundit Jeff Stelling and his son Matt. Jeff, in his seventies, is the eldest participant and struggles physically, expressing frustration as he tries to keep up with the others. His more relaxed approach is at odds with his son Matt’s eagerness to press on.

The pairs set out from Borneo aiming for the first checkpoint in Pangkalan Bun, Indonesia, a journey covering more than 1,000 kilometers. By the fourth day, Ella and Nana manage to gain an advantage by choosing a direct bus route, leaving Sam and Kaz trailing behind and feeling regretful about their decisions. Meanwhile, Jeff spends £77 on a taxi to escape a remote area, a costly decision that may have consequences later in the competition.

As the teams approach the checkpoint, three groups arrive by the end of the day, while one remains missing, adding to the suspense of the race. The show highlights the varying levels of preparedness and adaptability among the celebrities as they navigate the complexities of long-distance travel under strict constraints.
