KUWAIT CITY — The Central Agency for Public Tenders (CAPT) has opened bids for two contracts concerning sand removal from highways in Kuwait’s northern and southern regions. The tenders were issued on behalf of the Maintenance Engineering Sector at the Ministry of Public Works.

A total of 19 companies submitted bids, with 10 competing for the southern area contract and nine for the northern area. Following the bid opening, CAPT will forward the tender documents to the Ministry of Public Works for detailed review, including an assessment of technical proposals. This process is expected to take up to 30 days.

After the ministry completes its evaluation, the technical recommendations will be submitted to the State Audit Bureau (SAB) for pre-audit procedures, ensuring compliance with regulatory and financial standards prior to contract awards.

The Ministry of Public Works has emphasized that these tenders aim to address the issue of sand accumulation on key roadways, which can obstruct traffic, pose safety risks to drivers, and threaten infrastructure integrity. By contracting specialized companies for regular sand removal, the ministry intends to maintain smooth traffic flow and uphold safety and security standards across these vital transportation routes.
