Residents of Charlestown, a historic town in Cornwall known for its role as a filming location for the television series Poldark, have raised concerns about increasing disorder linked to heavy alcohol consumption. Locals describe the situation as turning the once-quiet town into “Britain’s Ibiza,” citing incidents of underage drinking and public disturbances.

According to residents, groups of young people, some reportedly brought to the town by their parents, have been involved in noisy and disruptive behavior during recent nights. The influx of these visitors has sparked complaints about public safety and community disruption in the seaside village.

Devon and Cornwall Police have acknowledged the reports, with Inspector Simon Andrews confirming that officers have responded to incidents involving groups causing alarm among residents. “One of the reports was a group of youths causing alarm to the local public,” he stated, emphasizing the impact of such gatherings on the community.

In response, authorities have implemented dispersal orders to empower police to move on individuals who are causing disturbances. These measures are intended to reduce nighttime disorder and restore a quieter environment for residents.
